The Vernon Good Food Box is a volunteer run, non-profit, bulk Produce Buying initiative which helps families include more fresh fruit and vegetables in their meals.
The economical cost of the Good Food Box is made possible by group buying at wholesale prices. Volunteer labour for sorting and packing is also key to keeping the prices down. Volunteers in the Vernon area with a pick up truck who could help out one morning per month are always needed. We also need volunteers to help sort and pack boxes. Click on Volunteering to learn how you could help for as little as 1/2 day per month.
The selection of produce in the box changes with the seasons according to what is good quality and affordable at the time. Good Food Boxes come in two sizes - Large boxes are suitable for a household of 3 or more. Small boxes suitable for a household of 1 or 2 are now available in all locations. Click on “The Good Food Box” for more information.
Orders must be placed and paid for by the Wednesday 8 days before the third Thursday - this is usually the second Wednesday in the month. Payment is by Cash or e-transfer. Click on “Order & Pay” for details.
Boxes are distributed on the Third Thursday of the month from a central location to the following areas: Vernon, Armstrong, Lumby, Falkland, Cherryville and to the Okanagan Indian Band, Westside. Click on “Pick Up” for pick-up times and pick-up location addresses.
We also offer the opportunity for individuals and organizations to sponsor a Good Food Box for a family. Click on “Sponsor” for details.
